“Pencil Shavings” is an homage to the pencil. It’s my opportunity to write articles that use pencils as a starting point to explore seemingly unrelated social and cultural phenomena. I get to play with words, interview my cronies, do a bit of research, and draw connections between disparate things. You get to see my work in its raw state, untouched by a magazine editor and unembellished by a graphic designer.
